I was checking my blogs yesterday and came across an article on LifeHacker that discussed getting a career coach and how a coach might help with a career change and/or job search. I didn’t think much about it at the time, but later started to wonder if this might be a good direction for my Life Coaching practice to head.
It’s been difficult attracting customers to a generic Life Coaching business, and I’ve been told that a niche is a good way to go. This seems like a niche that would be useful to a broad audience. And, it today’s economy, more people than ever are out of work and looking at a potential career change.
What I’ve decided to to reach out to a few people that are doing a job search and explore the possibilities here. Use my normal interviewing and coaching techniques and discover how they might need to be modified to better serve someone doing a career or job search. Maybe a better way to think about this is that I’ll be collaborating with someone in the trenches to develop a working system.

Wow, I can’t believe how coaching impacts me. I was working with a client last night, we started talking about what he wanted to achieve and I thought we were getting off to a great start. As we started exploring the different areas he started opening up about the things he didn’t want to talk about. It was hard for him, but he persisted and did the work.
In the end, we created an amazing future for him. His vision statement is just wonderful. I know that as we move forward he’ll be on top his commitments and total live into the future he created in our session. It’s going to be awesome.
I wish I had come across coaching earlier in my life. This really works for me.

I done a little searching for an office. I feel that I need a place, outside the house, for coaching. I found one office for $250/mo, but it’s a very “shared” environment. There would be four people using the same space and coordinating their schedules. Doesn’t feel very good.
I visited another office. It has a private office and a small conference area (six person). But it’s a lot more money.
One more tonight, I’m hoping it will be better.
Does anyone else have any ideas? Let me know.

I received my certification from the Certified Coaches Federation. I’m now a Life Coach. Yeah!
My plan is to do coaching in the evening and on the weekend. We’ll see what happens from there. Business cards, web page, so many things to do.
